There is clearly a massive need within the village of SAM MBOLLET and considerable funds will be required to help them become self sufficient and independent in the future. The initial aim of the fund is to purchase cement, sand and stones so that the villagers can start to make the bricks that are so desperately needed to build a village school and a clinic. A list has been put together, in consultation with the villagers, of their priorities at this time. They are, in no particular order:
1) Funding of a Milling Machine – approx £2000
2) Funding and Sponsorship for Education – from £75 per child per year.
We do not ask for a long term commitment. All money donated for this purpose would ensure a child’s education was paid for, for as long as funding is made available, ideally with a view to continuing through to the end of senior school.
3) Funding and for a Nurse – cost from £50 per month.
This would ensure that the villagers had regular access to a qualified nurse at all times. Realistically this would need to be an ongoing cost.
4) Livestock – cost from £10 per animal.
Cow £300
Sheep £60
Chicken £10
5) Fencing – cost from £400
To fence off the GLOVE Farm from domestic and wild animals.
6) Trees – types still to be decided.
7) Necessities:
Bag Rice
Packet Candles
Oil (Cooking)
Sand
Cement
Corrugated Roofing – from £32 per packet
Medical Supplies such as antibiotic creams and lotions, pain killers, disinfectant, bandages etc. There are too many items to price individually but they are cheaper purchased locally.
The building of a Large Round House for Guests
This would comprise a round house split into 4 rooms with composting toilets. Each room would have 2 beds, a toilet, sink and shower. On completion it would be used to house visiting helpers.
The building of a Village Primary School & Clinic
This is included in the long term plan and will initially be achieved by focusing on raising funds to buy cement etc, so that bricks can be made for their construction.
As these buildings are built funds will then be transferred to the purchase of equipment and teachers’ salaries, as well as equipping the clinic and funding a full time nurse (if not already in situ) and a visiting doctor.
Any help with achieving the goals that we have set will mean a great deal to the villagers of SAM MBOLLET.
Please, be completely assured that all funds raised/items donated, will reach their destination. This is a very worthy cause and we will ensure that you know where your donations go.
